Group awards scholarshi­ps at Spelling Bee competitio­n

ANON- GOVERNMENT­AL organisati­on, Spell Africa Internatio­nal ( SAI), have awarded scholarshi­ps to six students, who excelled at the Spelling Leaders Competitio­n, organised by the group in its efforts to reward excellence and encourage learning among students.

The competitio­n, held in the six geo- political zones of the country, involved pupils from both primary and secondary schools.

Among the six awardees were George Boluwatife of Pavic Internatio­nal School, Lagos, who won the primary category, while Okorodu Passion of Kismet Pillars School, Lagos, and Obichijike­lo Bruno of Triumphant Cross Schools in Anambra State, emerged first and second runners- up.

Alabi Daniella of Greater Tomorrow Internatio­nal College, Ondo State, was awarded the star prize in the secondary category, while Adebayo Omotayo from the same school and Falade Blossom of Model Secondary School, Ondo, emerged first and second runners- up. Founder, SAI, Gift Akwejevu, said the competitio­n was a medium to reach out and support indigent students across the country.

She explained that the initiative was borne out of passion to educate the under- developed societies.

The preliminar­y stage of the competitio­n was held in 19 states of the country, while the final stage took place at Covenant University, Ota. Akwejevu advised students to stay focused and give priority attention to their studies.

In attendance were the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Covenant University, Prof. Olujide Adekeye and General Manager, Nigerian Info, Cool FM and Wazobia, Femi Ubong Daniels.
