Makinde, Adeleke, others open new Agodi Gate- Adegbayi Road

Warns politicians eyeing 2027 governorship seat

- From Rotimi Agboluaje, Ibadan

OYO State Governor, Seyi Makinde, yesterday, inaugurated the 8.2 kilometres newly- dualised Agodi Gate- Adegbayi Road in Ibadan.

Makinde, accompanied by his Osun counterpart, Ademola Adeleke, said the completion of the road was a further testament of his administration’s commitment to expanding the state’s economy.

Former Ondo, Osun and Oyo states’ governors, Olusegun Mimiko, Olagunsoye Oyinlola and Omololu Olunloyo, in that order, attended the inauguration of the road.

Also, former Senate President and People’s Democratic Party ( PDP) Board of Trustees ( BOT) Chairman, Adophous Wabara, and Senator Abiodun Olujimi witnessed the event.

Makinde reiterated his commitment to providing good governance to the people of the state, saying that his administration would continue to prioritise and do projects that would bring the best value to the people of Oyo State.

According to him, good governance is the ability to use limited resources to meet the growing need of the population by prioritising projects that maximise value, and this is exactly what we are doing in Oyo State.

The governor noted that "the pressure on the state’s infrastructure is increasing and there's a need to upgrade them.”

He also hinted that the state’s infrastructure development had started attracting multinational and local businesses into the state than ever before.

MEANWHILE, Makinde, yesterday, took a swipe at politicians that have started scheming to succeed him in 2027.

According to the governor, he was concerned about delivering the dividends of democracy.

He said: “As we commission this project, it is another time to remind the good people of Oyo State to stay with the vision. Do not be distracted by people who do not have your best interest at heart. We can already see them starting 2027 propaganda. It is not even a year after the last election.”

In his remarks, Adeleke said that Oyo State’s remarkable progress, particularly in the areas of infrastructure and human capital, had become a source of inspiration to other South- West states, describing Makinde as a motivation for the remaining governors in the region.
