Victory Over Temptation

-

be reckoned with. Temptation can bring a man from the top to the bottom and from grace to grass. Deut. 27: 13 says, you are the head and not the tail, above only and not beneath. May God keep you from every form of temptation in Jesus’ name. Temptation is when you are seduced, enticed or lured to commit sin or do what is morally bad. There are certain facts to know about temptation. The first of them is that temptation is not a sin. So don’t be ashamed when tempted. Every man can be tempted; it is when you fall into temptation that it becomes a sin.

Secondly, temptation seduces the mind and makes one to temporarily forget about God and his precepts. In Judges 16: 16- 17, Samson understood the precepts of God, but when he was continually being harassed by Delilah to go against it, his spirit was vexed to give in. Temptation puts you under pressure until you forget your principles and standard. Temptation attacks your weak point and puts you on one spot until you give up. May God give you a way of escape in Jesus’ name.

Temptation is inevitable; so, expect it! Jesus was tempted too. For every temptation you face, God has designed a way of escape ( 1Cor. 10: 13). Unfortunately, many don’t see it because the pressures around them have blinded their eyes. A young lady who is under financial pressure might only see prostitution as the solution to her problem, while she is blinded to other decent opportunities that God has set

for her. This is the same case with a lot of young men, today, who go into ritual killings and all kinds of getrich- quick practices. Note also that your temptation is commensurate to your capability. God cannot allow you to be tempted beyond your strength. Another fact to know is that God does not tempt anyone, but he can test you ( James 1: 13- 14). Temptation is being lured to commit sin and God cannot lure a man, but he can test your faith and he does that within the limit of your strength. In other words, when you fail such test you
