Being a Christian, however, gives us infinite possibilities because when we come in contact with Jesus, we come in contact with the great Stimulus in the universe — God incarnate ( Jn 15: 5; Phil 4: 13; 2 Cor 12: 9; 1 Cor 1: 26- 31; 2 Cor 4: 7).

“But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.” ( 2 Cor 4: 7)

THE supremely valuable message of salvation in Jesus Christ has been entrusted by God to frail and fallible human beings “earthen vessels.” Paul’s focus, however, was not on the perishable container, but on its priceless contents — God’s power dwelling in us.

Though we are weak, God uses us to spread his good news, and he gives us power to do his work. Knowing that the power is his, not ours, should keep us from pride and motivate us to keep daily contact with God, our power source. Our responsibility is to let people see God through us.

It is critical to know that with God there is no separation between “spiritual” and “secular” matters. God is interested in every aspect of our life and work. See for example the book of Leviticus. The Israelites have arrived safely at the foot of Mount Sinai, and the tabernacle has been completed. The people will spend a great deal of time here as God shows them a new way of life with clear instructions on how sinful people can relate to a holy God. These instructions help us avoid taking our relationship with the same holy God too lightly. We learn about the holiness and majesty of the God with whom we are allowed to have a personal relationship.

Read Exodus 35: 30- 36: 1— the Artisans called by God.

“And all the women whose hearts stirred with wisdom spun yarn of goats’ hair.” ( Ex 35: 26)

Those who spun cloth made a beautiful contribution to the tabernacle. Good workers take pride in the quality and beauty of their work. God is concerned with the quality and beauty of what you do. Whether you are a corporate executive or a drugstore cashier, your work should reflect the creative abilities God has given you.

“And let the beauty of the Lord, our God, be upon us, and establish the work of our hands for us; yes, establish the work of our hands.” ( Ps 90: 17)

Because our days are numbered, we want our work to count, to be effective and productive. We desire to see God’s eternal plan revealed now and for our work to reflect his permanence.

May this be God’s final pronouncement on your sojourn in earth.

“Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord,” ( Mat 25: 23). Amen!
