Tolulope Oke Drops Uphill To Create Awareness On Environmental Pollution
ANEW film, Uphill ( Oke Okuta), which aims at educating and enlightening the audience on en vironmental hazards has been produced by Tolulope Oke. Oke is an actress and a film producer. She hails from Osun State. She studied Sociolog y at University of Lagos and Dramatic Art at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Osun State. She has featured in several film productions.
Oke said what inspired her to produce the short film was that “she intentionally wants to tell stories of hope to her audience and also to showcase her talent, as an actor and skill, as a film producer.”
She asserted that viewers would learn more about their environment and the hazards caused by pesticides used by farmers to control pests in their farmlands.
She said the audience would be interested in the story, as it relates to humanity and safety.
She said: “The core message of Uphill ( Oke Okuta) is its focus on environmental pollution and health care system in rural areas.
“The storyline depicts a village where a farmer used pesticides on his farm. This led to the death of a young lady. Investigation into the death revealed the of use of dangerous pesticides on a big farm. This set the youths against the influential farmer.”
She added: “The film exposes the audience to environmental degradation and how to protect themselves from health hazards due to the use of pesticides. The chemicals poses serious and long- term risks to people’s health.”
She said the envisaged resultant outcome of the film “is to make viewers aware of the impact and consequences of environmental pollution. This should make them to be more conscious of their environment.”
