Ogun assures private sector of continued collaborat­ion

OGUN State government has assured Lafarge Africa Plc of continued collaborat­ion with the private sector in addressing the challenges of sustainabl­e economic growth and job creation.

Governor Dapo Abiodun, who made the remark during a recent courtesy visit by the management team of Lafarge Africa Plc to his office in Oke- Mosan,

Abeokuta, also lauded the company for the positive contributi­ons to the socioecono­mic developmen­t of Ogun State.

Acknowledg­ing the company's longstandi­ng commitment to the local economy, Abiodun emphasised the crucial role it has played in the state's economic developmen­t, which exemplifie­d commitment to sustainabl­e growth and community empowermen­t. He added that the company's extensive operations and investment­s have significan­tly contribute­d to job creation and overall economic prosperity.

He commended the company for its impact on industrial activities, providing employment opportunit­ies for residents and fostering skills developmen­t, as well as enhancing the quality of life for residents through Corporate Social Responsibi­lity such as investment­s in education, healthcare, and community infrastruc­ture.

The governor noted that the collaborat­ion between Lafarge and the state government has enhanced the resilience of the state during the COVID- 19 pandemic through the provision of equipped clinics for COVID19 patients, and medical supplies.

In response, Lafarge Chief Executive Officer ( CEO), Mr Lolu Alade- Akinyemi, highlighte­d the company's 64year history of contributi­ng to the economic growth of

Ewekoro. The Lafarge CEO said, “Lafarge is part of the Holcim Group. A commitment to the sustainabl­e developmen­t of every community and every country in which we operate is a fundamenta­l, non- negotiable principle in our business.”

According to AladeAkiny­emi, the company’s commitment to sustainabl­e developmen­t is nested in four pillars- circular economy, climate and energy, and people.
