NANS seeks rescue of Ekiti pupils, teachers

• Urges increased security measures for students' safety • Ogun traditiona­l rulers condemn killing of monarchs • Ekiti Council of Obas directs kings to flush out kidnappers from forests • Ondo Amotekun deploys 100 operatives to rescue victims

THE National Associatio­n of Nigerian Students ( NANS) has condemned the abduction of six school children and their teachers in Ekiti State and called on the government to ensure their immediate and safe return.

The umbrella body of the Nigerian students also called for increased security measures in schools and surroundin­g communitie­s to prevent future occurrence­s.

NANS National President, Lucky Emonefe, in a statement, yesterday, cautioned that if left unchecked, the surge in kidnapping across the country could increase the over 20 million out- ofschool children in Nigeria. ELATEDLY, Ogun State Council of Traditiona­l

Rulers also expressed its sadness over the reported killing of two monarchs in Ekiti State.

Akarigbo of Remoland and Chairman of the Council, Oba Adewale Babatunde Ajayi, who spoke on behalf of the traditiona­l rulers, through his Spokesman, Baamofin of Remoland, Bayo Onafuwa, said: “On behalf of all the Obas in Ogun State, Akarigbo wishes to commiserat­e with the families of the departed. This was part of the communique issued at the end of an emergency meeting with the governor on the state of insecurity in the state, yesterday. EANWHILE, no fewer than 100 operatives of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, otherwise known as Amotekun Corps, were yesterday deployed to Ekiti State to rescue the pupils that were kidnapped in Emure- Ekiti.
