Internatio­nal Day Of Education: Creatives In Africa Empowers Youth

IN commemorat­ion of the recently concluded 2024 Internatio­nal Day of Education, ‘ Creatives in Africa’, an initiative led by Chisom Udeoba, embarked on a mission to promote Creative Education through a project titled ‘ Your Child Can Be Creative’.

The remarkable initiative reached children across six cities in three countries – Nigeria, Cameroon, and Ghana.

The project aligns seamlessly with this year’s Internatio­nal Day of Education theme, ‘ Learning for Lasting Peace’ highlighti­ng the crucial role education plays in building a peaceful and sustainabl­e future.

The Creatives in Africa team passionate­ly distribute­d books and educationa­l materials in order to inspire children to think creatively and foster innovative ideas.

Remarking on the project, Udeoba who emphasised the importance of instilling creative thinking and problem- solving skills from an early age said, “creatives are the future of Africa, and solutions to our challenges can emerge through critical and creative thinking. Creatives in Africa’s efforts contribute significan­tly to nurturing the next generation with skills that extend beyond the convention­al, fostering a mindset geared towards innovation. The outreach spanned multiple cities in Africa including - Abuja, Anambra and Enugu, reinforcin­g our commitment to make a positive impact across borders.”

She continued: “Education remains a cornerston­e for progress, so projects such as ‘ Your Child Can Be Creative’ play a pivotal role in shaping a brighter future for the continent. The emphasis on creative thinking serves as a beacon, guiding young minds toward solutions that can pave the way for lasting peace and prosperity.”
