Music Is A Tough Hustle For Upcoming Artistes – Weiser

- By Daniel Anazia

ADEKUNLE Boluwatife Oluwagbemileke who goes by the stage name, Weiser, is one of the new acts in the growing Afrobeats scene. He has evolved from an ordinary street music act to joining the stable of Hydeli Records where he is honing his skills.

Influenced by gospel heavyweights such as Tope Alabi and Esther Igbekele, Weiser is leaving no stone unturned to get his music career to the peak.

Also inspired by listening to the works of Olamide, Qdot, Young John, Seyi Vibez and Zinoleesky, he believes that before long, he will be at the top.

In 2023, Weiser released his extensive playlist titled, the Logrhythm EP, a body of work that contains eight beautiful tracks.

Speaking on the challenges he has faced pushing his music in the industry, Weiser added, “I have encountered a series of challenges including not having enough funds to pay my producer, bloggers. Music is a tough hustle for upcoming artistes. I’ll go to shows, beg to perform.

“There was a time one of my producers then told me to come for a show; I got there and he snubbed me immediately. I started hustling to perform on my own and the MC kept telling me to calm down until everyone left. Only two people were left when the MC later called me to perform.”

According to him, “I don’t have a particular genre, but I will describe my sound as a new flavour of spiced- up Afropop. The situation around me greatly influences my songs and drives my music.”

Talking about his relationship with his record label, the Adeleke University, Ede graduate, said, “the label in charge of my music career have been so active and supportive. I have not had any reason to complain, they’re like a family to me. God bless Hydeli Records.”
