Deadly Passions Of Love ( 2)

- To be concluded

Continued from Saturday, January 27, 2024

LOVE could be funny and mysterious. That eventful Saturday before the rain began, Suru had written her a very powerful and highly romantic poem showing his feelings and thinking that this would make the pretty damsel fall in love and accept his marriage proposal. The poem was entitled ‘ Titilayo My Heart!’. It went thus:

O Venus I crave your indulgence O Eros I crave your indulgence It was a couple of months back And there appeared this angelic goddess into my life

She looked well- mannered and gentle At first I thought it was a mere false pretence A façade or wrong impression

I thought she was cloaking her real character But many months had soon elapsed Each day I study her carefully Noting if she had flaws and blemishes That could besmear her good mien But she’s constant

Like the sun and the stars he blossoms into life

More glorious and charming ever Your name itself is joy and so much joy

O Venus I crave your indulgence O Eros I crave your indulgence She’s sweeter than I thought She’s softer than I imagined

Her name is music to the ear Filling me with desire

Beauty exudes from her Wisdom oozes from her

She’s humility personified

Very witty and brainy

Never had Nature made such a perfect being Never had Nature bestowed

Such rare qualities on a seraph She’s an epitome of beauty

She walks gaily and majestically She’s dark- skinned and radiant Her lips, so ruddy, rosy and alluring

Her teeth, so sparklingly white Her eyes, so dazzlingly exuberant Her skin, oh her skin!

Softer than flora and fur

And she’s hairy

Oh, those wonderfully brown hairs

Adorning her elegant features And she would smile… and smile Simplicity reincarnate Moderation reincarnate
