Rerun polls: Sacked Speaker, deputy return as PDP clears Bauchi Assembly seats
NNPP defeats APC in two Kano constituencies APC wins Senate, Rep seats in Yobe, Katsina
TPeoples Democratic Party ( PDP) in Bauchi State won all four disputed seats in the House of Assembly in Saturday’s rerun in Bauchi, Zungur/ Galambi, Ningi and Madara/ Chinade state constituencies. The rerun followed the nullification of the March 18, 2023 elections by the election petitions tribunal and Court of Appeal, which ordered the rerun in the 42 affected polling units of 16 electoral wards in Bauchi, Ningi and Katagum local councils.
Immediate- past Speaker of the House and his deputy , whose elections were earlier declared inconclusive, were eventually declared winners of their respective legislative seats of Ningi and Bauchi constituencies after the rerun elections.
The Speaker scored 11,785 votes, while his opponent, Khalid Abdulmalik of the APC polled 10,339, according to the Returning Officer ( RO), Prof. Ahmed Abdulhameed. T
HE Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC) declared Bello ButuButu of the New Nigeria Peoples Party ( NNPP) winner of the rerun election at Rimin Gado/ Tofa state constituency, Kano State.
RO of the constituency, Prof Ibrahim Suraj, declared that Butu- Butu of NNPP polled 31,135 votes to beat his opponent in APC who scored 25,577 votes.
Also, Dr Alhassan Ishaq of NNPP was confirmed winner of the re- run in Kura/ GarunMallam constituenc y by the RO, Prof. Shehu Galadanchi, who declared that Ishaq polled 37,262 to beat Musa Daurawar of APC who got
A30,803 votes.
INEC, however, suspended the conduct of the re- run in Kunchi/ Tsanyawa constituency indefinitely over violence after suspected hoodlums hijacked electoral materials in 10 polling units in the area.
Kano police command confirmed the arrest of political thugs that allegedly perpetrated the act.

N Yobe State, INEC declared Musa Mustapha the winner of Yobe East by- election
Mustapha scored 68,778 votes to defeat PDP’S Aji Kolomi ( Ajiko). While declaring the election results, yesterday, in Geidam, the RO, Prof Ibrahim Jajere, said Mustapha scored 68,778 votes to defeat Kolomi, who managed 18,878 votes. PC candidate in Katsina State, Shehu Tafoki, won Saturday’s rerun election for the Kankara/ Faskari/ Sabuwa federal constituency seat with 49,807 votes.
The former Deputy Speaker of Katsina Assembly defeated his closest rival, Jamilu Muhammed of PD), who garnered 49,067 votes. The RO, Prof Aminu Kankia, who announced the results at the INEC office in Kankara Local Council, said Tafoki was returned having scored the highest votes.
Tafoki commended the voters in his constituency for giving him their mandate, even as he assured that his legislation would be in tandem with the APC national manifesto.
