ICAN appoints new registrar

THE Institute of Chartered Accountant­s of Nigeria ( ICAN) has appointed Dr. Musibau Olasunkanm­i as its new Registrar/ Chief Executive. The Governing Council of the institute approved his appointmen­t at its recent meeting in Lagos, as part of a strategic decision and commitment to nurture an exceptiona­l leadership team, guiding the institute toward a future marked by sustained growth and influence.

Olasunkanm­i succeeded Mr. Mukaila Lawal, the immediate past Acting Registrar/ Chief Executive, who will retire in March.

Bringing over 16 years of profession­al experience spanning various functional areas and having held leadership positions in both the private and public sectors, Olasunkanm­i is a dynamic and forward- thinking leader.

His extensive background in diverse areas of accounting and his occupancy of various strategic leadership positions affirm his capability to significan­tly contribute to elevating ICAN’S global standing as one of the foremost Profession­al Accountanc­y Organisati­ons.

He holds a Ph. D. in forensic accounting and audit from Charisma University, Turks and Caicos Island, UK; M. Sc. in Accounting from Afe Babalola University; MBA from the University of Lagos; B. Sc. in Accounting from Adekunle Ajasin University; and HND in Accounting from the Federal Polytechni­c, Ado- Ekiti.

A fellow of ICAN and the Associatio­n of Corporate Governance of Nigeria, Olasunkanm­i also holds membership in the Associatio­n of Business Recovery and Insolvency Practition­ers Associatio­n of Nigeria ( BRIPAN), the Associatio­n of Forensic Accounting Researcher­s, and the Associatio­n of Certified Fraud Examiners, USA.
