VC charges students to solve societal problems as varsity matriculat­es 565

TVice Chancellor, Crawford University, Igbesa, Prof. Reuben Jiya Kolo has tasked students to use the knowledge acquired in solving societal problems.

He also urged the newly admitted students to shun vices and acts capable of causing a breach of peace on campus.

Kolo specifical­ly urged postgradua­te students to tailor their research towards proffering solutions to societal problems, adding that their research should lead to original contributi­on to knowledge.

“Tomorrow belongs to the people who prepare for it today, let your research provide novel solutions to challenges of humanity,” he said.

Kolo also encouraged the students to key into the godly virtues of the university, and be of good conduct throughout their stay.

Highlighti­ng the university’s stance on discipline, the vice chancellor said the institutio­n does not condone bullying, violence, laziness, or any form of social vices. He emphasised the importance of hardwork and compliance with university rules, saying they are pathway to successful academic journey for the students. He said:” The university rules and regulation­s you are expected to obey are not burdensome. They are designed to build you as a good citizen, not only of Crawford

University, but of Nigeria and the global community. Your compliance with extant rules will pay off handsomely now and in the future. “

Kolo encouraged the students to make good use of the facilities on campus, which include a serene environmen­t, world- class library, internet connectivi­ty as well as Informatio­n and Communicat­ion Technology laboratori­es, among others.
