The Court of Appeal ruled that Pres. Obasanjo had no legal power to sack his deputy, Atiku Abubakar, for joining an opposition party

• 2007 - USA

Jerry Yang ( 38), co- founder of Yahoo, donated $ 75 million to Stanford University. Yang and David Filo founded Yahoo in 1995.

• 2006 - Liberia

Liberia's president inaugurate­d a truth commission to investigat­e crimes and human rights abuses committed in the country over the last 25 years.

• 1999 - Nigeria

National Assembly elections held to signal Nigeria’s return to democracy. 469 seats in a bicameral legislatur­e were vied for by three parties. 360 members were for the House of Representa­tives and 109 were for Senators.
