Court injunction delaying inauguration of Ondo councils' caretaker committees, says Aiyedatiwa
ONDO State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has said that the continued delay in the inauguration of local council caretaker committees appointed by his late boss, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, was due to a court case and an injunction against the committees. Aiyedatiwa said efforts were being intensified to resolve the court case through a political solution that had been granted by the court. The governor, who disclosed this during a meeting with former members of the caretaker committees of the councils and local council development areas ( LCDAS) at the governor’s office in Akure, said that once the case is finally withdrawn from the court, all the errors made in the composition of the list of the appointees would be corrected.
Aiyedatiwa maintained that transition committees for the 18 councils and 33 LCDAS would soon be constituted ahead of the forthcoming council elections in the state.
According to him, the creation of the LCDAS, which was one of the legacies of the late Akeredolu, must be preserved, stressing that his administration does not have plans to abolish the 33 LCDAS created by his late boss.
He, however, urged the former appointees to demonstrate more commitment to the party within their respective councils.
He said: “It is important for us to come together as one big family for the progress of the All Progressives Congress ( APC) and the development of the state. There is no division in the party’s leadership."
The state’s APC Chairman, Ade Adetimehin, echoed the governor’s words of unity in the party, commending the governor for his interface with the party members.
Olaniyi Gbenga and Funke Kumuyi, who spoke on behalf of the former appointees, thanked the governor for the interface and pledged loyalty and support for his administration.
