Omirhobo seeks AIG’S intervention in property conflict

- By Joseph Onyekwere

LAGOS lawyer, Chief Malcolm Omirhobo has called on the Assistant Inspector General of Police Zone 2 Headquarters, Onikan Lagos to take over the investigation of a property conflict in Apapa, Lagos.

The lawyer said he is making the appeal because the Xsquad section under the Zone was handling the matter improperly.

In a letter to the AIG, the lawyer said he is acting on behalf of Ms Tega Amanda Obukohwo, the alter-ego of Mercury Integrated Global Limited, which deals on real estate and leased the disputed property from the owners.

According to him, Obukohwo’s estranged husband was interfering with her business, extorting her and collecting rents from the leased property and other properties in Apapa, Lagos when they were together.

“After their marriage broke down irretrievably as a result of an abusive and toxic relationship, her ex-husband wants to continue to interfere in her business by going to her properties to collect rents and preventing her from collecting rents from her tenants.

“When she resisted him, he lodged a frivolous complaint against her at your X-squad section who invited her and her landlord, the Christian Council of Nigeria, represented by its Secretary General, who pointed out to the Police that they have no business with her exhusband and that she is their lessee.

“Instead of your officers advising her ex-husband to stop harassing, embarrassing, oppressing and intimidating her, they have continued to keep the file open and allow her exhusband and his lawyer to continue to disturb her and prevent her from carrying on her business by asking tenants not to pay her but to pay them,” he explained, adding that she did not sign any agreement empowering him to manage her property.

He stated that her exhusband and his lawyer with the aid of some officers of the X-squad are tormenting and frustrating the life of his client and therefore, requires his timely intervention.

“In view of the above, we appeal to you to use your good offices to intervene in the matter by transferring the case from X-squad to any other section under your command for a thorough and unbiased investigation, and revert to you in the interest of justice,” he prayed.
