tion. The first step is that you must be knowledgeable and the second step is to renew your mind.

The next step we shall consider here is that you most submit yourself to God. Avoid every form of pride and surrender yourself totally, so that, he can help you ( James 4: 7). Again, take extreme measures. Victory over temptation requires that you stand your ground. Matthew 5: 2930 gives us a clear illustration of such extreme measure. In real terms, it may require taking drastic actions like cutting off certain relationships. A young lady was brought to see me sometime ago for counselling and the report was that she could not resist running back to her ex whenever he called on her; meanwhile, she was married to someone else. To overcome that temptation, she had to cut off every ties and contacts linking her to the ex.

I had my own share of such extreme measure when I newly gave my life to Christ. To avoid the temptation of falling in and out of sin, I personally told God to take my life if I ever committed fornication. It was a harsh and difficult measure, but it helped me to stand my ground. Prov 6: 27- 28 says, you can’t carry fire and not expect to be burnt. That is over confidence, ( 1 Cor 10: 12).

Another step to take is to make yourself accountable to godly people. Such godly friends and relatives will always tell you the truth in love. For the married, your spouse should be one of such persons. Also, have authority figures who will always put you in check whenever you are going astray. Such persons could be your spiritual or biological parents, your leader or someone you respect and honour and also answerable to. He or she must be who you are answerable to at any time. You must also get baptised with the Holy Ghost and walk in the Spirit.

Lastly, watch and pray that you may not fall into temptation ( Matt 26: 41). In condition, there is a formular to apply to gain victory over temptation. I call it the DRU formular.

D: Don’t believe the lies — learn from Eve.

R: Run from sin — learn from Joseph.

U: Use God’s word — learn from Jesus.

Prayer Points

1. O Lord, give me the power to overcome temptation in Jesus’ name.

2. Father, release unto me the sensitivity of the Holy spirit to act rightly in the face of temptation in Jesus’ name.

3. Every satanic investment over my life, receive fire in Jesus’ name.

4. Every Delilah from the marine kingdom sent to pull me down, die in Jesus’ name.

5. Powers that want me to die in my situation, your time is up, die by fire.

6. I receive total victory over every form of temptation lurking around me right now in Jesus’ name.
