Ondo guber poll: Akeredolu's widow berates husband's niece for endorsing Aiyedatiwa

• Says she's a serpent, betrayal • I'm a victim of circumstances, I'll always stand with gov, says niece

- From Adewale Momoh, Akure

CRISIS is currently brewing ahead of the November governorship election in Ondo State, particularly within the family of the late former Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, following the endorsement of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa by the niece of deceased governor, Funke Akeredolu- Aruna.

The widow of the late governor, Betty AnyanwuAkeredolu, had, yesterday lashed out at the niece of her late husband for openly rallying support for Aiyedatiwa for his governorship bid.

In a post she made on her Instagram page, Betty described Funke, who was the Deputy Chief Protocol to

Akeredolu, as a serpent who was allegedly hobnobbing with Aiyedatiwa despite the strained relationship of the former deputy governor with his late boss.

Anyanwu- Akeredolu, who was infuriated with the picture of her husband's niece wearing a cap with the inscription "I am lucky," said: "Behold the face of Aketi's niece, Funke Akeredolu- Aruna, the former deputy chief protocol to Aketi, shamelessly parades as ' I am lucky' Bloody serpent! Time will tell if she is truly lucky." But when contacted over the development, Funke, who was retained as Deputy Chief of

Protocol, stressed that the outburst of the wife of the late governor against her was due to the differences between Betty and Aiyedatiwa.

Akeredolu- Aruna, while describing Aiyedatiwa as a family that she would always root for, said that everyone within Akeredolu's family knows that she has always been in the camp of Aiyedatiwa.

She said: "I just happened to be a victim of circumstances.”

EANWHILE, Aiyedatiwa, yesterday, disclosed that the capital grant of N1.2

M

billion in the 2024 budget would be released to Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology ( OAUSTECH), Okitipupa, for the completion of abandoned projects within the institution.

The governor also said that the institution's monthly subvention of N91 million would be given due consideration to enhance the operations of the institution. Aiyedatiwa made the pledge during the second convocation ceremony of the institution.
