LAGOS State Governor, Babajide Sanwo- Olu, yesterday, promised that his administration would continue to develop an enduring and sustainable ecosystem to create a livable as well as workable environment for students in higher institutions in the state.

He gave the promise during a one- day interactive session with student union leaders and stakeholders in Lagos State organised by the Ministry of Tertiary Education, with thetheme: "Students as Strategic Partners in the Governance Process: Challenges and

Prospects for Youth Development.”

Sanwo- Olu, who spoke at the event held at Adeyemi Bero Hall, Alausa, announced an upward review of the bursary and scholarship grants to students, promising to appoint four former student union leaders as senior special assistants.

The governor, who also said that his administration would continue to engage students constructively, pledged to enhance infrastructure in public institutions, saying that scholarships would be extended to the less privileged, especially students with disabilities.

The state’s Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Tolani Sule, who commended the governor for his support, gave the assurance that the ministry would sustain the legacy of excellence as it continues to dialogue and engage the students, management, as well as stakeholders, in its bid to foster an atmosphere of peace.

He said: “A stakeholders’ engagement like this becomes necessary in view of the noble roles that our youths have to play in our development agenda.”

The Guest Speaker and immediate past Vice Chancellor of the Lagos State University, Prof. Olanrewaju Fagbohun, who said the governor is a man of legacy, commended the administration for its constructive engagement, dialogue, collaborative problem- solving techniques and consultation. Meanwhile, in fulfilment of his earlier promise, the governor announced four former student union leaders as senior special assistants. They include Eniola Opeyemi, Kayode Samuel, Giwa Moore and Adeola Adewunmi.
