AN upcoming rapper, Imade Prayerosar­odion has won the one thousand dollars prize after emerging the winner of the recently concluded Chocolate City Cypher Challenge. He was awarded the prize at an award ceremony in Lagos. Expressing his gratitude, Osarodion shared his appreciati­on for Chocolate City's dedication to nurturing emerging artists, emphasisin­g the role played by the label in promoting Afrobeats and hip- hop music.

The Chocolate City Cypher was announced by the Nigerian label in commemorat­ion of the 50th anniversar­y of hip- hop music. The winner Osarodion was selected from the over 3,000 entries received via submission­s on social media and after a vetting process.

The CEO of Chocolate City, Abuchi Peter Ugwu, said: "The depth of talent and creativity showcased in the cypher challenge is truly inspiring. Each participan­t's ability to weave intricate narratives and deliver captivatin­g verses embodies the essence of hiphop culture." While extending congratula­tions to Osarodion for emerging as the winner, Ugwu also commended other participan­ts for taking part.

Sharing her thoughts on the project, Vice President of Music at Chocolate City, Ibukun Abidoye added: “We believe in providing platforms that empower emerging artists to shine and showcase their talent. The Cypher Challenge is just one of the many avenues through which we aim to foster the next generation of African musical stars.”

For over two decades, Chocolate City has been at the forefront of promoting African music and supporting emerging music talents. The cypher challenge is among the numerous efforts of the label to further establish its commitment to supporting the growth of creatives at the grassroots level.
