‘ Collaboration Vital In Creating Awareness Of Kidney Diseases’
TOseek collaboration in strengthening the awareness of kidney diseases, Nephrology Unit, UCH Ibadan on Thursday, paid a courtesy call to the Hospital’s Management in commemoration of the World Kidney Day.
The team lead, Dr. Asinobi Adanze, said the visit was to create awareness of kidney disease, its causes, how to prevent it and also to seek continuous support from the management.
The Chief Medical Director, Prof. Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo, while appreciating the team, stated that the management has collaborated with many partners who have facilitated and donated some medical equipment to the renal unit.
He noted that such serves as an indicator that the present administration has always been in support of the renal team and would continue to do so.
Meanwhile, newly elected executive members of the Christian Medical and Dental Association, Oyo State Chapter, led by Dr.
Okidare Amos, equally paid a courtesy call to the hospital management to officially present the elected executives.
Dr. Amos said the visit was also to show appreciation for support extended to the body over the years.
The CMD Otegbayo congratulated the newly Executive Committee, urging them to continue in prayer for the success of the organization.
In another development, the Institute of Health Service Administrators of Nigeria, IHSAN, UCH chapter organised a one- day retreat to promote administrative innovation.
The CMD, who stressed that such retreat is an important strategy to develop an organization for excellence, said, “availing yourself for this training programme shows you believe in this present leadership.”
Director of Administration and Secretary to the Board of Management, Mr. Kolawole Akintunji Oyeyemi, said the one- day training programme is a pointer that the hospital administrators were working in line with the vision of the CMD who believes in capacity building.
He admonished the participants to pay utmost attention to the training as it promotes innovation, adding that the programme won't be a one- off event, but continuous.
Dr. Abiodun Moshood Adeoye, the Chairman Medical Advisory Committee, Director of Clinical Services, Research and Training, hinted that any administration desirous of a good administration must take adequate care of its administrators as they are the backbone of any organisation.
He emphasised the need for a continuous training for staff to motivate them towards achieving the organisation’s set objectives, expressing hope that the training will lead to high productivity.
Two discussants, Dr. Opatola and Dr. Olatunji gave separate lectures on attitudinal change and work place ethics, team building and team dynamics, respectively.
