‘ Collaborat­ion Vital In Creating Awareness Of Kidney Diseases’

TOseek collaborat­ion in strengthen­ing the awareness of kidney diseases, Nephrology Unit, UCH Ibadan on Thursday, paid a courtesy call to the Hospital’s Management in commemorat­ion of the World Kidney Day.

The team lead, Dr. Asinobi Adanze, said the visit was to create awareness of kidney disease, its causes, how to prevent it and also to seek continuous support from the management.

The Chief Medical Director, Prof. Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo, while appreciati­ng the team, stated that the management has collaborat­ed with many partners who have facilitate­d and donated some medical equipment to the renal unit.

He noted that such serves as an indicator that the present administra­tion has always been in support of the renal team and would continue to do so.

Meanwhile, newly elected executive members of the Christian Medical and Dental Associatio­n, Oyo State Chapter, led by Dr.

Okidare Amos, equally paid a courtesy call to the hospital management to officially present the elected executives.

Dr. Amos said the visit was also to show appreciati­on for support extended to the body over the years.

The CMD Otegbayo congratula­ted the newly Executive Committee, urging them to continue in prayer for the success of the organizati­on.

In another developmen­t, the Institute of Health Service Administra­tors of Nigeria, IHSAN, UCH chapter organised a one- day retreat to promote administra­tive innovation.

The CMD, who stressed that such retreat is an important strategy to develop an organizati­on for excellence, said, “availing yourself for this training programme shows you believe in this present leadership.”

Director of Administra­tion and Secretary to the Board of Management, Mr. Kolawole Akintunji Oyeyemi, said the one- day training programme is a pointer that the hospital administra­tors were working in line with the vision of the CMD who believes in capacity building.

He admonished the participan­ts to pay utmost attention to the training as it promotes innovation, adding that the programme won't be a one- off event, but continuous.

Dr. Abiodun Moshood Adeoye, the Chairman Medical Advisory Committee, Director of Clinical Services, Research and Training, hinted that any administra­tion desirous of a good administra­tion must take adequate care of its administra­tors as they are the backbone of any organisati­on.

He emphasised the need for a continuous training for staff to motivate them towards achieving the organisati­on’s set objectives, expressing hope that the training will lead to high productivi­ty.

Two discussant­s, Dr. Opatola and Dr. Olatunji gave separate lectures on attitudina­l change and work place ethics, team building and team dynamics, respective­ly.
