Congratulations on the release of your latest video, Kabiyesi Re. Can you share the inspiration behind the song?

KABIYESI Re is my testimony of God’s sovereignty and dominion, inspired by Colossians 2: 10. It emphasises trusting in God for victory, maintaining faith through obedience, and expressing gratitude in all circumstances. The song reflects on my personal experiences, particularly, a lifethreatening health situation in mid- 2021. Despite the challenges, God intervened during surgery, and I emerged not only a survival, but free from the disease. The key message is to trust God in all situations, as He truly ‘ Calls the Shot’.

What specific experiences or encounters with God inspired this?

My personal encounter with God during a life- threatening surgery in mid- 2021., where His divine intervention was evident, became a pivotal inspiration. The surgery, originally scheduled for six- eight hours, lasted nearly 12 hours, with specialists expressing amazement at my survival. The song emphasises God’s power over adversity, showcasing His favour and mercy.

You have released a few singles; can you share your creative process?

The consistent flow of inspiration is attributed to God’s favour, a genuine passion for Him, and a commitment to declaring His faithfulness. Songs are received through various channels, such as dreams, prayer sessions, reading the Bible, and personal experiences. The creative process involves recording demos on my phone, collaborating with my producer, Tobass Alphuis, for mixing and mastering, and finalising production before distribution.

As a UK- based Nigerian artiste, how do you balance your cultural background with your music, especially in conveying the gospel message to a diverse audience?

Kabiyesi Re is my first culturally- rooted song, blending Nigerian Yoruba dialect and English. While my previous singles were in English, the inclusion of subtitles and lyrics accommodates a diverse audience. The aim is to engage people of all cultures in the journey of faith, respecting diversity and embracing different perspectives while upholding Godly standards.

Your dedication to faith is evident in your life and music. How do you stay grounded in your relationship with God amid the challenges that come with being an artist?

Remaining grounded in my faith involves a deep connection with God, learning His ways through scriptures, and personal encounters. Despite health challenges, my passion for advancing God’s work and the gospel keeps me anchored. Trusting in God’s provision and divine plan for my music ministry assures me that challenges are already settled in the spiritual realm.
