Omowunmi Dada Adds Adds A Peep A Peep T To o Her Collection

STAR actress, Omowunmi Dada, has received a certificat­e of honour after completing her teaching job at Michigan University, United States. The Ayinla and Oloture star was presented with the certificat­e for her commendabl­e effort as an artist- inresidenc­e. The busy actress took to her social media handles to share a post of the send forth ceremony. The video showed that moment of recognitio­n for the University of Lagos creative arts graduate who has had a meteoric rise in the motion picture industr y. Omowunmi had captioned her post, thus:

“As my time as the 2023 Artist- in- residence at the University of Michigan comes to an end, my heart is overflowin­g with gratitude. From the inspiring students who touched my soul to the incredible staff and lecturers at the Department poof Afro- American and African Studies and the African Studies Centre who welcomed me with open arms, this journey has been nothing short of magical. Thank you for the unforgetta­ble memories and for giving me the avenue to impact and share my Nigerian film/ cultural heritage. Here is to new beginnings and cherished connection­s.” It will be recalled that the actress announced her appointmen­t as a 2023 global artist- inresidenc­e at Michigan University in October 2023. During her time at the university , Omowunmi collaborat­ed with the African Studies Centre and the Department of Afro- American and African Studies to create audio- visual materials for teaching African language.

Actor Funsho Adeolu Calls ‘ Poliactors’ Out

NOTABLE cross over actor, Funsho Adeolu, is in the news. The actor made headlines when he hit ‘ hard’ at some of his colleagues who have ventured into politics. Funsho known for being very blunt has described actors who venture into politics as ‘ unreal’. The stocky actor declared in a recent interview with the comedian and show host Teju Babyface that a ‘ real actor cannot be a politician­s’. Although he didn’t mention names, but the actor averred that actors cannot be politician­s. “All these other people ( his colleague that are politician­s) are not actors. An actor cannot be a politician,” he declared adding that an actor should not be in politics as you can’t play both roles and be real. Pressed to be specific about his declaratio­n, and asked if he considers a notable actor who ventured into politics in Lagos state as an actor, the actor who is popular among fans of movies produced in Yoruba language simply asserted that actors should face their profession and leave politics for politician­s as no successful actor can be a politician. IF you are a close friend or fan of the notable actress, writer, producer and director Omoni Oboli and you describe her as latest ‘ Awaiting grandma’, you will not be wrong. Why? Tobe, son of the actress and producer of plenty credits including Wives on Strike and Okafor’s Law is now well married to his fiancée Marelle. The colourful wedding, which was witnessed by close family members and friend held in Canada at the weekend. Sources hinted that Tobe, the first of the three sons born to Nnamdi and Omoni Oboli met his fiancée in Canada where his parents ( the Oboli’s) now reside. One thing led to another and today, a ‘ whitee’ as the source quipped has now joined the Oboli’s as daughter- in- law. An elated Omoni took to her social media handles to share the breaking news about the august wedding in March. The actress captioned one of the pictures she shared thus: ‘ God did. It was a cold winter evening but it was very warm in our hearts. We had the most beautiful wedding ever with close family and friends. Still reeling from the beauty of that day. Thank you Jesus. The Buzz In Moviedom Is 2024 Oscars

THE buzz in moviedom is the news of the winners and losers of the 2024 Academy awards otherwise called the OSCARS. The award ceremony which held just this Monday at the Dolby theatre in Hollywood, saw the biopic by Christophe­r Nolan Oppenheime­r taking home the most OSCAR trophies this year including the most coveted Best Picture and best director award. The film which grossed over 1 Billion dollars at the box office scooped seven out of 13 nomination­s at the 95th edition of the Academy awards. The three hour biopic about J Robert Oppenheime­r, the atomic bomb inventor got the Oscar trophy for best picture, directing, actor in a leading role for Cillian Murphy, actor in a supporting role for Robert Downey Junior, Original music score, Film editing and for cinematogr­aphy. Oppenheime­r left other nominees to scramble for other trophies such as sound which was awarded to the film- Zone of Interest by Jonathan Glazer and costumes, production design and make up which went to the film

Poor Things. This year’s best documentar­y award went to 20 Days in Mariupol, about Russia’s full scale invasion of Ukraine. Greta Gerwig ‘ Barbie’ which was highly favoured to scoop awards got only one trophy and it was for the best song category. No Nigerian film made the cut, but notable Nigerian filmmaker Blessing Egbe attended the award ceremony and the producer of ‘ Two Brides And A Baby’ shared pictures of her participat­ion at the Oscars on her social media handles.
