TEETH 4 TEETH ...

And Whiz Kid Finally Broke Dam

RECENTLY, Afro pop star, Whiz Kid confirmed what some of us had said repeatedly when he said he was not an ‘ Afrobeats’ artiste.

T4T had been emphatic on his stand that the grading of the genre of music this generation of Nigerian artistes sing as ‘ Afrobeats’ is a misnomer. Afrobeat is a genre of music created by Fela Anikulapo, adding ‘ s' to make it

‘ Afrobeats’ is a fraud and that is why Whiz Kid should be commended for distancing himself from that fraud.

You cannot be singing ‘ Afrobeats' and dressing like an American street gang member; bling bling, baggy jeans and all. Fela created his Afrobeat with a unique African sound and dressing to match and that was how he gained global recognition. You are playing ‘ Afrobeats’ and sounding like a Michael Jackson or Chris Brown and just because you use Pidgin or Yoruba or Igbo or Urhobo does not make it afro.

The catch here is, Whiz Kid has not told us the kind of music he sings. We are patiently waiting. When he does, perhaps, that will be the direction others may follow going forward. Who Will Tell This Star It's Time To Let ‘ Rosie' Go?

I

F you are a friend of once upon a time music star, Blackky, on Facebook, you will understand what T4T is about to tell you here. Blackky was hot, very hot, with his ‘ Rosie' hit, in the early 90s. The song took hold of the entire country and since an artiste cannot reign forever ( when he is not a Michael Jackson), Blackky’s light dimmed.

But the artiste will not give up on ‘ Rosie’. Every day of his life on Facebook, he exhumes ‘ Rosie', give her a clean bath and display her for the world to see. But in a world that parades the likes of Burna Boy, Davido, Whiz Kid, Rema among so many others, nobody, it appears, wants to see our dear ol' ‘ Rosie' again. So sad!

On Wednesday night, at about 11pm, Blackky felt the need to give ‘ Rosie’ another fresh, hot water bath. This was what he wrote as caption of the old ‘ Rosie' video he posted on his Facebook Timeline.

“Watching this always gives me goose bumps.... Those of you who watched Blackky's talent blossom from day 1 and witnessed my struggle to prove myself musically will surely be able to relate...

I was just one young undergraduate in my early 20s in Unilag who was determined to prove to the world that Nigerian music would rule the world one day...

They said that it would be impossible for me to be signed on at such a young age...

They said that my type of music was not commercial enough and was too modern... All the record companies I approached with my demo at that time turned me down, except for Premier music @ premiermusic_ ng who challenged me to contest at the Lekki Sunsplash talent hunt contest in 1990, where I came first and got signed to Premier music and became the first artiste to be released on the Premier Records imprint!

This song marks how my musical journey started...

One full hour after, not one person has reacted or commented on the post. When T4T woke up in the morning Thursday, he took a peek at bros Blackky's Timeline once again. Nothing has changed.

Bros, why you nor kuku jus beg one of dese new boys wey dey hot so make una do a banger remix of ‘ Rosie' weda e go blow, make we all rest na?

Doubleman: Prankster Or Home Breaker?

T

HERE is this prankster who goes by the name Doubleman, that T4T has been following for quite sometime now. He does some funny pranks on people ( especially girls) who he would give a piece of paper with words like: “The woman you slept with her husband is here with acid." As the girl is reading the note, a woman who works with him would appear with a plastic bucket walking menacingly towards her. The girls in different videos he had pranked always run for their dear life.

But recently, Doubleman, who is the self acclaimed ‘ Best Prankster in Africa’, seems to have taken pranking to a very dangerous level and the one he did on a popular Nollywood actor ( names withheld) left a sour taste in the mouth. The prankster had announced in the beginning of the video that he had got a tip that the actor would be coming to the hotel where he was stationed. Minutes after, the actor arrived in an SUV with a girl who obviously was not his wife. As the duo made for the reception hall, the prankster approached him pretending to be a fan. The actor acknowledged his compliments and next thing he asked him what he was going into the hotel to do with a young girl and that he would call his wife. He had already planned with a female partner who took his call pretending to be the actor's wife and with the phone on speaker; she declared she was coming to the hotel. The embarrassed actor had to hurriedly flee the scene.
