Group Rates North Central Worst In Open Defecation In Nigeria

TCountry Director of TASTE, Mr. Nuhu Yakubu Chayi, has disclosed that North Central is the worst in open defecation in Nigeria with Kogi State leading and closely followed by Plateau State.

Quoting the United Nations World Water Developmen­t Report, Chayi said that 70 million Nigerians lack access to clean and safe drinking water while 114 million lack access to basic sanitation facilities.

Speaking in Jos, during an activity to commemorat­e the 2024 World Water Day, themed, “Leveraging Water for Peace’, Chayi highlighte­d the significan­t role that water plays in promoting peace and stability in Nigerian communitie­s.

TFederal Government has been urged to prioritise innovation, inclusion, and collaborat­ion as key pillars of the country’s education policy and strategy.

This was part of the submission of stakeholde­rs at the African Internatio­nal Education Conference, organised by the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry ( LCCI), in Lagos, with the theme: Innovation, Inclusion, And Collaborat­ion For Sustainabl­e Education.

They suggested that if the principles are followed, the country can create a more vibrant, responsive, and sustainabl­e education system that equips the students with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to succeed in a rapidly changing world.
