Ndieze, One- day School Principal, Urges FG To Release Abducted School Children

- By Chris Irekamba

TO celebrate academic excellence and also motivate students for leadership roles, the Board and Management of Anglican Comprehensive High School ( ACHS), Ipaja, Lagos, has appointed a Senior Secondary School( SSS) student, Ndiezechinonzochibueze, to act as a One- day Principal of the school. Other students that perfomed well in the examination were also allowed to play a one- day role in other key positions in the school.

This is in recognition and celebration of his academic brilliance. The One- day Principal had six distinctions from seven subjects in the last Cambridge O'level Examinations. Cambridge O'level Examination is an internationally recognised examination equivalent to Cambridge IGCSE and the U. K. GCSE, which prepares learners for Cambridge Advanced studies among others.

Speaking to newsmen shortly after conducting his official duties as principal, Ndieze commended the school authorities for the honour and called on students across the country to focus on their studies and shun any form of anti- social behaviour that may truncate their dreams.

He disclosed that the experience earned as a One- day school principal has exposed him to leadership traits that would positively shape his future endeavours.

Lamenting the spate of kidnappings around the country, particularly the recent abduction of school children by armed bandits in Kaduna and Borno states, Ndiezecalled on the Federal Government and Nigeria’s security agencies to urgently secure the release of the children and ensure that they are reunited with their parents.

He said: “While it is important to commend the efforts of both the Federal and state governments in tackling issues of insecurity in the country, it is equally important to say that all security agencies in the country must be adequately prepared to proactively deal with future occurrences.

“It is also a delight to note that Nigeria’s current Inspector General of Police, Mr. Kayodeegbetokun is an alumnus of this great school and I have no doubt that he will live up to the ethos and principles of the school.”

Present at the event were parents of the students appointed as school principal, vice- principal and other key school principal officers. The entire student population, staff and management were at hand to celebrate and the ‘ student- leaders.’

In his address, the Principal of the school, Venerable Joseph Adedeji, said the school is holding the maiden edition of the One- day School Principal programme to mark the beginning of its 51st year of existence.
