- From Nnamdi Akpa, Abakaliki

AFORMER senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) for Ebonyi Central zone in last year’s general election, Lazarus Ogbee, has officially defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress ( APC).

Ogbee, who was a former member of the House of Representatives, representing Ezza South/ Ikwo Federal Constituency, yesterday, defected, together with his over 3,000 loyalists.

Receiving the defectors, the state APC Chairman, Stanley Okoro Emegha, said that the party’s doors are widely open to welcome and accommodate everyone.

He called on all politicians and citizens in Ezza South Local Council to set aside their differences and focus on building a stronger and more prosperous future for the state, adding that the defectors would be accommodated in the affairs of the party. The APC boss urged his members to allow any opposition party member, who wishes to join the party, noting that the house is more than enough to accommodate all.

Speaking, the Chairman of Ezza South Council, Euphemia Nwali, while commending Ogbee and his supporters for making the bold steps to join the APC, enumerated some of her achievements including empowerment, financial assistance, sitting of projects and other social amenities across the various wards.

She said: “Under my administration, I have procured official vehicles for all APC executives in Ezza South Council, and no other council Chairman has done it in the state.”

Ogbee stated that he didn’t defect to APC to destabilise the party, as alleged, but to join hands with stakeholders to build the party in Ezza South, and the state at large.

He urged other Ezza South members, who are in other political parties, to join the moving train for the growth and development of their area.
