Easter celebration: Osun NSCDC deploys 1,520 personnel
LASTMA assures motorists of adequate traffic mgt, control
OSUN State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps ( NSCDC), Michael Adaralewa has deployed 1,520 personnel for covert and overt operations during and after the Easter celebration.
The Commandant also ordered Area Commanders and Divisional officers in all Local Councils and area commands across the State to deploy effective operational teams for constant patrol of every nook and cranny of the state.
This, he said, is to ensure criminally minded people do not have a hiding place to operate before, during and after the celebration.
Spokesperson for the command, Kehinde Adeleke, in a statement, yesterday quoted the Commandant as saying that a total of 1,520 personnel have been deployed for the operations.
According to her, the personnel comprised the State Command Tactical Teams, such as the Counter Terrorism Unit, AntiKidnapping Squad, Special Armed Squad, Female Armed Squad, Disaster Management Unit and Chemical, Biological, Radiological Nuclear and Explosive Unit.
“In addition to providing security for citizens and residents, they would also protect critical national assets in the state.
“Officers shall be deployed to public places, worship centres, recreation centres, shopping malls, identified criminal’s hideouts and would discharge their duties with respect to fundamental human rights,” she said.
The State Commandant, who enjoined the personnel to work in synergy with other sister agencies for a hitch fee celebration, said security of the people is very sacrosanct, and therefore, the personnel of the Corps must be on their toes to protect lives and property at all times. Adaralewa urged members of the public to celebrate within the confines of the law, be watchful, imbibe the culture of moderation and report suspicious movements and persons to the nearest security agency for immediate action.
While wishing them a happy celebration, he called on Christian faithful to practice all the good teachings that the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ taught.
He called on those who intend to travel for the celebration to avoid overspeeding and night travels. SIMILARLY, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority ( LASTMA) has assured motoring public of adequate deployment of personnel, including traffic management materials for seamless traffic operations before, during and after the festive periods.
