Eze Ndigbo of Ajao Estate in Lagos, Fredrick Nwajagu, was arrested by joint team of policemen and Department of State Services operatives for threatenin­g to invite Indigenous People of Biafra to secure properties of Igbo people in Lagos.

World Wildlife Foundation sounded the alarm on plastics in the Mediterran­ean Sea after an 8- meter ( 26ft) sperm whale was found dead off Sardinia with 22kg of plastic in its belly.

• 2016 - Nigeria

Army arrested Khalid Barnawi, a. k. a. Usman Umar Abubakar, leader of the militant group Ansaru, in Lokoja. Ansaru is a splinter faction of Boko Haram.

• 2015 - Nigeria

World leaders congratula­ted Pres.- elect, Muhammadu Buhari on his victory in the elections. They also praised incumbent, Goodluck Jonathan for conceding defeat. The stock market rebounded after the peaceful elections 23 people died across Nigeria jubilating the victory. • Ex- Inspector General of Police, Muhammadu Dikko Yusuf died in Abuja aged 83

Sharia court freed two men accused of gay sex and belonging to a homosexual club, saying the prosecutio­n failed to prove its case.

Moses Blah, the man who served as president for two months after Charles Taylor stepped down, died.

• 2012 - Congo

Aliko Dangote, Africa's richest man, donated $ 500,000 to victims of munition blasts in Brazzavill­e, Congo, which killed 282.

• 2005 - Zimbabwe

Opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai dismissed the previous day's elections as "massive fraud", accusing President Robert Mugabe of treating the country like "his private property."

• 2004 - USA

Google introduced Gmail, e- mail service with one gigabyte of free storage. In 2007 the storage was expanded to free unlimited.

• 1976 - USA

Apple Inc. was formed by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Ronald Wayne.
