LASEPA to partner LASU on research, air quality index report
THE Lagos Environmental Protection Agency - LASEPA plans to establish a partnership with the state’s university ( LASU) towards exploring areas of mutually beneficial partnership, especially strengthening the drive for a sustainable environment.
LASEPA General Manager, Dr Tunde Ajayi, disclosed this during a visit to the LASU Vice Chancellor, Prof Ibiyemi Bello. Ajayi sought working partnership and collaboration in the area of research development through the use of LASEPA'S International Organisation for Standardisation ( ISO)Certified laboratory for scientific analysis and development.
Accompanied by Governor Sanwo- Olu's Executive Assistant on Environmental Protection Matters, Mrs. Tolulope Adebowale, and directors from the agency, Ajayi highlighted that other areas of collaboration include the use of LASEPA'S database, air quality index report, E- Library for research development, environmental studies, and electronicwaste management.
Ajayi said that there is a need for partnership with academia as universities and colleges remain the primary sources of research development, adding that the collaboration will bring together academia and government agencies to drive research development, knowledge transfer, and environmental protection.
Bello commended the team for choosing the university for such collaboration and assured on the university’s willingness to collaborate with the agency in laboratory research development, carbon emissions control, student internship, data scientific analysis, environmental sanitation and technological innovations. Both parties formed a joint team to draw areas of possible collaboration and work out modalities that would be mutually beneficial.
The meeting attracted the Deputy Vice- Chancellor ( Academic), Prof Olufunsho Omobitan, Deputy ViceChancellor ( Administration), Prof Omotunde Boyo, Director, Directorate of Information and Communication Technology, Prof Toyin Enikuomehin and the Director, Directorate of Special Interventions, Prof Oseni Afisi, as well as Special Assistant to the Vice Chancellor/ Deputy Registrar, Dr Lateef Salami and Deputy Registrar, Vice Chancellor's Office, Dr Lateef Shekoni.
