Primaries will not cause internal crisis, says APC

THE All Progressiv­es Congress ( APC), Ondo State chapter, has dismissed fears within the party that the outcome of the April 20, 2024 primaries in the state will lead to an internal crisis, going by the array of aspirants seeking to fly the party's flag in the forthcomin­g governorsh­ip election.

The state’s Chairman of the party, Ade Adetimehin, who gave the assurance, yesterday, said that the party would always be formidable in the state.

He, therefore, assured President Bola Tinubu that he would be proud of whoever emerged as the party's standard- bearer.

According to the state chairman of the party, who met with the aspirants at the APC’S secretaria­t in Akure, the state capital, the party cannot afford to run ahead of the primaries.

He appealed to the aspirants to be mindful of their utterances to avoid the heat of the polity.

Adetimehin added that the party secretaria­t had asked "the local council chairmen to forward the venues of the election, which had been sent to the National Working Committee accordingl­y," in fulfilment of the party's constituti­on.

He, however, said: "The greatest challenge before us is the need to keep a united front for the party before and after the forthcomin­g primary election.”

Also, the party has urged the aspirants to avoid utterances that could heat up the polity. The state’s Publicity Secretary of the party, Alex Kalejaye, who gave the warningin his Easter message to members, yesterday, in Akure, said that the party’s focus remained to support the conducive atmosphere for the emergence of a popular candidate.
