Gunmen abduct two Taraba varsity students
UNIDENTIFIED gunmen, yesterday, abducted two students from the Federal University Wukari ( FUW) in Taraba State. The Guardian gathered that the incident occured within the university premises, specifically at a restaurant located on campus.
An eyewitness said the armed assailants, believed to be of Fulani descent, targeted the restaurant where one of the abducted students was working part- time.
The second victim, identified as a female student, was reportedly taken while attempting to purchase food from the same restaurant. Confirming the abduction,
the chief security officer of the institution, Sule Gani, said the abducted students were spillover candidates preparing to retake some of their exams.
Gani disclosed that witnesses at the scene overheard the gunmen conversing in the Fulani language, providing a potential lead for investigators.
According to Gani, authorities from the university, in collaboration with law enforcement agencies, have launched a comprehensive search and rescue operation to secure the safe return of the abducted students.
Gani assured the public that the school’s security team, bolstered by the presence of police and military personnel, is tirelessly working to locate and rescue the victims from their captors.
Appealing to the public for assistance, Gani urged anyone with relevant information regarding the whereabouts of the kidnappers to come forward and cooperate with security operatives.
Members of the university community have also expressed their determination to support the efforts of school authorities in apprehending the perpetrators and ensuring justice for the abducted students.
