Security operatives foil robber y attack in Kaduna, arrest suspect, recover arms

AGAIN, security operatives in Kaduna State have foiled an armed robbery attack in Kaduna metropolis, arrested one of the suspects and recovered operationa­l arms.

Besides, the State Police Command stated, yesterday, that it made a significan­t breakthrou­gh in crime prevention and detection with the arrest of the armed robbery suspect and the subsequent recovery of his operation weaponry.

This was as Zamfara State Government ordered immediate restrictio­n of movement along the state’s borders with Katsina and Sokoto states, to stem crimes. Kaduna Police Public Relations Officer ( PPRO), ASP Mansir Hassan, said: “Sequel to a report received from the Divisional Police Officer ( DPO) of Maraban Jos Division, on March 24, 2024 about 2030 hours, acting on credible intelligen­ce, police operatives arrested one Salim Aliyu, a 22- year- old resident of Badarawa Kwaru in Kaduna Nort h, in possession of one AK- 47 rifle with Breach No . 01585, and three rounds of 7.62 x 39mm live ammunition.

“Other items r ecovered from the suspect include a Nigerian Immigratio­n Service ( NIS) camouflage singlet and cap, a sharp knife, a flier , a desert handbag, a wallet containing a First Bank ATM card and a compliment­ary card belonging to a Brigadier General of the Nigerian army”.

According to Hassan, during interrogat­ion, Aliyu con - fessed to being on a robber y mission to Maraban Jos,” pointing out that the successful operation underscore­d the Kaduna Police

Command’s unwa vering commitment to maintainin­g law and order in the state”. The Commission­er of Police ( CP), Ali Dabigi, commended the swift action of the officers involved and reiterated the command’s determinat­ion to rid the state of criminal elements.
