Arewa group slams Northern politicians against Tinubu’s re- election

- From Saxone Akhaine,

AREWA Youth Consultative Forum ( AYCF) has raised concerns over the alleged clandestine activities of some political actors to thwart President Bola Tinubu’s drive towards a second term in office.

President- General of AYCF, Yerima Shettima, in a statement, yesterday, condemned the actions of the politicians, pointing out that the minister of Defence, Bello

Matawalle, was targeted for his resilience against the recent rumours of instigation of the military to undermine democracy.

According to him, it is disheartening to witness a group of unscrupulous individuals attempting to sow seeds of discord among leaders for selfish political gains. AYCF highlighted the continuous attempts of certain northern politicians to drive a wedge in the relationship between Tinubu and Matawalle.

The Arewa group said: “These corrupt politicians are uncomfortable with the support and promotion Matawalle provides to Tinubu’s interests in the North,” stressing: “AYCF stands firm in its commitment to preserve the democratic values of the nation and ensure that such manipulative tactics do not hinder the democratic process.”

Shettima urged Nigerians to remain vigilant against corrupt politicians’ attempts to subvert democracy and called on law enforcement agencies to investigate and prosecute those who seek to undermine democracy.

He stated: “The forum remains committed to supporting leaders who prioritise Nigeria’s development over personal gain and will continue to advocate policies that benefit all citizens.”
