Rotary holds humanitari­an reporting awards

ROTARY Internatio­nal District 9110 will on Wednesday April 17, hold Humanitari­an Reporting Awards ( RHRA) 2023- 2024 edition to recognise and reward journalist­s in Nigeria.

The award would be held between 11: 00 a. m. and 2: 00p. m. at Rotary Centre, No. 8 Ladoke Akintola Street, Ikeja, Lagos.

According to Rotary Internatio­nal District 9110 District Governor, Ifeyinwa Rita Ejezi, the award is aimed at strengthen­ing the partnershi­p between Rotary and the media by recognisin­g journalist­s and media organisati­ons with outstandin­g record of reportage of their District and Clubs humanitari­an interventi­on projects in the communitie­s.

RHRA Committee Chairman and Assistant Governor, Ehi Braimah, who is the Publisher, Naija Times Online Newspaper, said 15 categories are to be given awards.

Braimah said the award categories include: Best Television station in the coverage of Rotary Clubs and RI D9110 activities; Best Radio Station in the coverage of Clubs and RI D9110 activities; Best newspaper in reportage of Clubs and RI D9110 activities; Best Newspaper in reportage of clubs and District 9110 Polio eradicatio­n activities; Best Online newspaper in reportage of Clubs and RI D9110 activities.

Others are Best Online TV station in reportage of Clubs and RI D9110 activities; Best Online Magazine in re - portage of Clubs and D9110 activities; Best Outdoor in promoting humanitari­an and Club activities; Best Male Celebrity Endorser promoting Polio eradicatio­n; Best Female Celebrity Endorser promoting Polio eradicatio­n and Most Outstandin­g Broadcast Journalist in reportage of Clubs and D9110 activities.

These would be followed by Most Outstandin­g Print Journalist in reportage of Clubs and D9110 activities; Best Tele

vision Station in the coverage of Clubs and RI D9110 activities; Most Outstandin­g Public Image Director with media reportage of humanitari­an stories and Overall Best Rotary Club in humanitari­an reporting.

Vice chairman, RHRA Committee, Olalekan Otun, said the Provost, Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Mr Gbenga Adefaye will deliver the keynote address, while Chairman Channels Media Group, Dr John Momoh, will be the Special Guest of honour and the Past District Governor, Prince Julius Adelusi Adeluyi.
