Seven suspected cultists nabbed in Kaduna

Police recover arms, ammunition, can of human blood

THE Police in Kaduna State have arrested seven suspected members of a cultist gang with arms and ammunition and a quantity of suspicious substances believed to be blood. Confirming the developmen­t in a statement yesterday, spokespers­on for the command, ASP Mansir Hassan said the arrest was another significan­t step in its relentless pursuit of justice and safety for all citizens.

According to him, the operation, conducted on April 6, was initiated based on intelligen­ce gathered from a reliable source. “Acting swiftly on the received informatio­n, police operatives moved into action at about 3: 00a. m. after reports indicated unusual activities in the rocky and mountainou­s region of Dumbi along the Kaduna- Zaria expressway.

“During the raid, a total of seven suspects were arrested, while others managed to evade arrest under the cover of darkness.

“Among the items seized from the arrested suspects were two pistols, a 30- litre jerry can containing a liquid suspected to be blood and a Lexus car believed to be associated with their criminal activities.

“Efforts are currently underway to apprehend the remaining suspects who fled the scene.

“The Kaduna Police Command urges anyone with relevant informatio­n to come forward and assist in bringing the suspects to justice,” he said.

Meanwhile, the state’s Commission­er of Police, Ali Audu Dabigi has commended the cooperatio­n and vigilance of the community in providing crucial informatio­n that led to the successful operation.

He further reiterated the Command’s unwavering commitment to rooting out criminal elements and ensuring the safety and security of all residents within the state.
