Shettima, Zulum, others pray in Maiduguri

Borno gov urges citizens to pray for peace, Shehu holds Durbar Abdulrazaq absent at Ilorin prayers as Ododo reassures on security

VICE President Kashim Shettima, Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum and National Vice Chairman ( North) of All Progressiv­es Congress ( APC), Ali Dalori, attended the two Eid prayers in Maiduguri, Borno State, yesterday.

Imam Idaini of Borno, Shettima Saleh, led the prayer at Borno Central Eid ground, Ramat Square.

In his sermon, Saleh enjoined the Muslim faithful to continue with the virtues imbibed during the 30- day Ramadan fast.

The Shehu of Borno, Abubakar El- Kanemi, led members of the Borno Emirates Council to the prayer ground.

Other dignitarie­s in attendance include Senator Kaka Lawan ( Borno Central), House of Representa­tives members, Secretary to the State Government ( SSG), Bukar Tijani; Head of Service ( HOS), Mallam Fannami, among other top officials and party executives.

EANWHILE, Zulum has called on citizens of the state to intensify prayers for the total restoratio­n of peace in Borno and other parts of the country.

“Glory be to Almighty Allah for allowing us to witness this year’s Eid festival. I urge the people of Borno to intensify prayers for peace to reign in the state and the country.

“I also want to urge the people of Borno to be law- abiding and patient with the government. We are doing everything possible to reduce the hardship faced by our people,” Zulum stated.

The governor noted that while the emergency gas plant experience­d some engineerin­g faults, both the state and federal government­s were working on how to exploit the hydroelect­ric sources to provide electricit­y to Maiduguri.
