Soldiers arrest suspects, thwart terrorist activities in Taraba, Benue

Tof the Nigerian Army stationed in Taraba and Benue states have dealt significan­t blows to terrorist activities, by arresting a gun- runner, killing a terrorist and preventing kidnapping attempts.

Disclosing this yesterday in the Army X- tweeter, the troops, according to the force, worked closely with local vigilantes to achieve the feat.

It also stated that the troops acted swiftly on actionable intelligen­ce to apprehend a gun- runner, Mansir Mohammed at the Jalingo Motor Park.

According to the tweet, Mohammed was allegedly involved in gun- running activities with terrorists.

“His capture led to the apprehensi­on of additional members of his network and the seizure of firearms, including a Semi Automatic Pump Action gun and a locally fabricated gun, along with other items such as a vehicle and mobile phones,” the Army stated. In a separate operation, the troops, as stated in the twitter account, conducting routine patrols in Miyande Village, Takum Local Council of Taraba State, intercepte­d two terrorist suspects transporti­ng an A utomatic rifle concealed under a motorcycle seat.

The vigilant troops, they said, seized an AK- 47 Rifle, ammunition and the motorcycle.

Additional­ly, troops swiftly responded to a distress call in Zaki- Biam Town, Benue State, thwarting a kidnapping attempt.

During the operation, one kidnapper was neutralise­d in a shootout, and a Beretta Pistol with ammunition was recovered.

These successful operations, they said, highli ghted the Nigerian Army’s steadfast commitment to combating terrorism and insurgency , ensuring the security of the nation.

The Army urged the public to continue to support the efforts of the troops as they carry out their missions.
