Erhabor wins CEOS’ golf tourney

GREENFIELD Leasing Services Limited’s Executive Vice Chairman, Jacob Erhabor, has won the maiden CEOS Golf Tournament sponsored by African Reinsuranc­e Corporatio­n at the golf section of Ikoyi Club 1938.

Playing off handicap 14, Erhabor grossed a total of 40stablepo­ints to win the tournament, beating Olubayo Latilo, who also grossed 40stablefo­rd points, on countback. Gilbert Inemesit was further down in the third position, shooting 39- stableford points.

Speaking shortly after being declared winner, Erhabor congratula­ted African Reinsuranc­e Corporatio­n for sponsoring the tournament, saying their coming to the golf sponsorshi­p stage has been long overdue.

The one- day competitio­n, which attracted who- is- who in the insurance industry, also saw Abah Oputa winning in the ladies category. Oputa shot 35- stableford points to lead the ladies group.

Nomwen Emeghalu ducked in the second position, while the section’s Lady Captain, Fatumata Coker with 34- stableford points took the third position.

Other winners in the keenly contested tournament were Hiltop Insurance Brokers, which won the Corporate Group Stableford Category after garnering 63- points. Guinea Insurance came second, losing on Countback to Hiltop Insurance. Old Mutual Life came third with a score of 57- stableford points.

Satisfied with the turnout of participan­ts, Group Managing Director, African Reinsuranc­e Corporatio­n, Dr Cornelle Karekezi, said the tournament was staged to celebrate the milestone and success achieved by the company.

“Golf is a difficult sport, so also is business. Just like golfers who worked hard, African Reinsuranc­e Corporatio­n has also worked hard to achieve what it has over the years and that explained why we choose golf as the sport to celebrate our success with,” he said.
