APC Alleges Kwankwasiyya Supporters Behind Protests Against Ganduje

- From Adamu Abuh, Abuja

THE All Progressives Congress ( APC) has uncov- ered how the Governor Abba Yusuf led New Nigeria Peoples Party ( NNPP) administration in Kano State mobilised a crowd of persons in Abuja to protest against the continu- ous stay in office of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje as the party' s National Chairman. The Special Assistant to Ganduje on Civil Society and Support Group , Comrade Okpokwu Ogenyi, claimed that the hired protesters have been identified as members of the K wankwasiyya move- ment from Kano state. The APC chief tain disclosed that some of the protesters, who were shortchanged in the process of sharing the largesse given by the Kano State government exposed the brains behind the protest. He said the protesters exposed what transpired because they were promised N50,000 each but were later given N10,000 each by the organisers. He pointed accusing fingers at the Chief Press Secretary to the Kano State Governor , Sanusi Bature, as mastermind of the sponsored protest against Ganduje. He said there is no iota of truth that chieftains of the party from the North Central geo-political are opposed to the emergence of Ganduje as the national chairman of the APC. While calling on security agents to be vigilant to ensure security of lives and property, the APC chieftain said: "Some of the hired protesters also forgot that they were dressed in kwankwasiyya T- shirts and caps during the protest to the APC national secretariat, yet claimed to be members of the APC, what a dangerous move to scuttle peace of our party.” The statement described the development as unfortunate and desperation taken too far, calling on Nigerians especially lovers of democracy to come out in defense of it.
