The true essence of Cultivating your body
O ne of my favourite mantras is the fact that Life is all about Balance! My passion is helping others achieve Optimum well –Being! i believe that the treasure trove of Quintessential health lies in the human endowments of the Mind, Body and soul. Cultivating the Body, enriching the Mind and nourishing the soul are our personal responsibilities and the choices we make daily determine the state of our health and wellness.
there is this African fable which i love, “every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up. it knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be killed. every morning a lion wakes up. it knows it must out run the slowest gazelle or it will starve to death. it does not matter whether you are a lion or a gazelle: when the sun comes up you better be running!”
For me, this is very profound! At some point last year, i was faced with a tirade of challenges. everything was happening so fast, swirling, it seemed the foundation was shaking and the roof caving in! i could not boast of a beautiful balance between my Body, Mind and soul! And am like, so will my messages now be ‘Do as i say?’ and not necessarily ‘walking the talk!’ that did not represent my true essence. i was overwhelmed, agitated, frustrated, concerned and almost lost my emotional stability until i took control by choosing to “run”!
Cultivating my Body was purely serendipitous! – A very good client of mine who had since become a ‘sister’ and knows i love my early morning walks, had invited to join a group for a one million step challenge for ten weeks! simple mathematics, one hundred thousand steps per week, about fourteen thousand two hundred and eighty six steps per day. Pronto, i said to myself, but my Polar Flow has not been clocking fourteen thousand steps per day oo! i endeavour to meet the Japanese ten thousand steps per day to remain healthy.
embarking on the one million step challenge made me realize there is a great difference from my ‘pleasure’ morning walks and cultivating the Body. some folks in the group were clocking up to twenty five thousand steps per day! since i do not like to slack in endeavours i embark on, i got up to twenty two thousand steps some days! i was able to break a lot of my limiting beliefs on exercise; i introduced a second wind workout in the evenings and realized i could also walk for an hour on sunday evenings.
A physical vital life came to my rescue! i became full of health, energy and Vitality! the endorphins did me good! i got my mind back! i had better clarity! Lethargy fizzled out! Joy filled my being! i was able to face the challenges one after the other! i have “out –run!” and i am running faster!
so every morning i wake up, “i engage my two doctors –my right foot and my left foot” and go for a walk!
i now have a magnificent Body to show for this as well as plenty of good health!
it is said that when you exercise over a twelve month period, you form a positive addiction for a lifetime! so go ahead and choose this priceless, drugless prescription! Cultivate your Body.
