What made you interested in being on big brother Nigeria?

A few years ago during one of the past seasons of Big Brother Africa, I watched bits of the show and I thought to myself, this might be an interesting thing to do, but I never really thought it was something I’d actually do. Now fast forward to Big Brother Nigeria 2017, I was actually helping someone renew their DSTv subscription and I came across the advert for the auditions, and I said well why not? I went for the auditions in Abuja, even though I almost talked myself out of going several times. As god would have it, I got called back and got selected and the rest is history.

Despite your huge fan base (the boss Nation), there’s still an equally huge amount of people who are not particularly impressed by you. Why do you think that is?

Oh wow, the Boss Nation is absolutely amazing. I’m so grateful to everyone who is a citizen of the Boss Nation. Their love, support and loyalty has been humbling and overwhelming. I actually only learnt that I had this incredible support system a couple of weeks before the finale but nothing anyone would have said to me prepared me for the magnitude of it. Frankly I still can’t comprehend how massive the Boss Nation is. Do you know the Boss Nation is in China? Nigeria, South Africa, ghana, the UK, America, Romania to mention but a few. A week ago I met some reps of Boss Nation from Botswana. It is incredible! The thing is that in life, it is impossible to impress everyone. Even if you were perfect, many people would still be unimpressed by your perfection. I’m focused on the plans I have and the incredible citizens of the Boss Nation who got me to the Big Brother Naija 2017 Top 3 and whose continued support gives me a million reasons to keep succeeding.

Do you believe you were portrayed fairly on the show?

It’s a reality show and for ratings, certain narratives are exploited. Big Brother Nigeria 2017 was the most watched and most talked about Big Brother Africa franchise. It was a game and now it’s over so life goes on.

What really transpired between you and Kemen? and what efforts have you made to control the defensive nature of the boss Nation towards the situation?

I’m certain like millions of people, you watched the footage from the night in question. whatever conclusions are drawn from it, is up to every individual who watched the footage. The producers of the show watched the same footage and spoke with me and the other person in question and reached a decision. I cannot thank the Boss Nation enough for standing and speaking up for me. My prayer for them and for everyone in general is that when you need help, god will raise an army for you, just like He raised the Boss Nation for me. The members of the Boss Nation are strong and diverse individuals from all walks of life. Everyone has a voice and their voice matters. we are all about positive vibes, celebrating our individuality and not dwelling on flaws or shortcomings.

how has being on reality tv changed you?

It hasn’t changed me. I’m simply growing into my new shoes. yes, it has been very overwhelming, and I am trying to catch my breath and find a balance between expectations and obligations. My new reality is that a lot more people recognise me when I go out. Asides that I’m still the woman who walked into that house, but stronger and now I’m also the President of the Boss Nation. (laughs)

What advice would you have for someone who is considering going on a reality show?

Just be yourself. Hold on to your essence. who you are is good enough. It can be emotionally draining, but what doesn’t kill you can only make you stronger, so try to enjoy the experience.
