OUR TAKE ON FASHION FOR 2020...

THE EDITORS AND ANCHORS SPEAK

-

The start of a new year is always the perfect excuse to refresh your wardrobe. This 2020 I’d really like to work on editing my wardrobe by getting rids of clothes I haven’t wore in months and buying pieces that will pair and compliment those I intend on keeping. Too often, I spend money on fun and frivolous fashion items and forget to hone in on what I really need. I want to focus more on investing in classic, timeless pieces, not the colorful, printed, or embellished one-offs trends that I know I’ll be sick of in a year or less.I also intend on encouraging homegrown brands while keeping an eye out for affordable quality trendy piece.

Generally in 2020 it will be easier to be stylish as most of the trends have been carried forward from 2019 and the 80, all you just need to do is make sure you are wearing the trends that are timeless and suit your style.

The biggest accessory trend I expect to see this year is unquestionably, belts—cinched at the waist over blazers, dresses, and even suits. From thin and narrow belts to wide statement belts, you can be sure all the fashion girls will be adding one to their wardrobe. Also, think voluminous silhouettes, bright coloured pant suits paired with sneakers, oversized statement sunglasses and every other eye-catching trend worn by fashion influencers.

“It’s the start of a new decade!

I would say keep your closet vibrant and fresh. The year 2020 promises to be eventful already so why not compliment it with some extra little oomph with sleeves, colours and prints while keeping it professional, chic and sexy!”

My style guide 2020 is consistency and professionalism. I look forward to opportunities to develop my brand in the network and to seeing producers more adept in their skill. Directors are also to work with cohesion alongside Anchors and Producers.

As a News Anchor, it is important that my voice, my message and my unique style is consistent across all platforms. My style guide for the year 2020 will remain Classy, Bold and Sophisticated. I have been wearing a signature hair look for the last decade, this year, I hope to experiment with different hair lengths but remain authentic to my signature look.

CO-HOST OF “THE ARISE MORNING SHOW” ARISE NEWS CHANNEL

The 2020 season will see an even bolder blurring of gender and lines as men embrace their feminine side with skirts and a spectrum of colour, and women step out in more box jackets, oversized shirts and chunky boots.

We will also see a furthering of the feminist narrative in ways that subvert expectation and perception. Figure-hugging silhouettes, plunging necklines, provocative slits and illusion mesh used to say a woman was embracing her sex appeal. Now, she will say “I am woman, hear me roar” with voluminous fabrics, abundant layers, billowing sleeves, pleats and knee-length hemlines. Although less flesh will be on display the female form will still be celebrated in all its seductive glory in kitsch and colourful ways that capture all the flirtation of any miniskirt or crop top while, through it all, remaining as ever “a la mode”

My perennial style guide is monochromatic pieces, bright colours and pastels with statement accessories. Each day is a gift, a new year a blessing. One must dress accordingly. Show up to each day like one who is grateful for it regardless of who will see you. Dressing is like so much else. Do it for yourself. Happy New Year!

As the new year offers a fresh start for fashion and style, the goal should be originality. Switch up those uncomfortable gladiator sandals for a fabulous pair of naked heels. An accessory a day keeps the drama away, less is more. Finally, Let your lips do the talking, not your face.
