VISION 20:20 (part 1) Spiritual Sight

-

Welcome to 2020, a new day, a new year, a new decade, a new season. I once heard a preacher talk about the seasons of life. He divided them into three: The morning (age 0 to 25), the afternoon (age 25 to 50), the evening (age 50 to 75). I then added, the night (age 75 to 100).

He said ‘the morning of life’ is when our sun begins to rise; the formative years, when the foundation for the rest of our days is laid. In that time, we would most likely have completed our education, began work, probably gotten married and started a family. ‘The afternoon of life’ he explained, is when we come into full bloom with our ‘sun’ at its brightest. In this period we would probably have attained the peak of our endeavours; settled into a career and family life. He likened ‘the evening of our life’, to the time when the sun begins to set. These are the years when we consolidate on our acheivements, enjoy our investments and reap the fruit of our labour. In this season we should be getting into retirement, we are also likely to give our children out in marriage and welcome grandchildren at this stage. My addition, ‘the night of life’, is the time we begin to wind down and prepare to sleep. Any person who is blessed to see the night of life should set their house in order and get set for departure. Part of this winding down should include writing a will.

All of us belong in one of these 4 seasons. Whichever it is, we must make the best of the time. Each presents an opportunity which comes with its blessings and challenges. No season is better or worse than the other. They are all different and special in their own way. We should realise this, embrace each, make the best of it and move on when it is over.

2020 is a unique season- It is a year for visioning. 2020 vision speaks of clear, perfect sight. As we begin this year with its symbolic number, what do you see? Sight occurs at three levels - physical, mental and spiritual. Our natural eyes enable us see the physical, we our mind’s eyes we see mentally and we can also see things spiritually. Now let’s consider spiritual sight.

In the book of Exodus chapter 25 Moses was about to erect a tabernacle and God instructed

him to build it to the specifications he had been shown on the mountain. In effect, there was a tabernable in heaven which Moses had been privy to see and God wanted him to replicate it on earth. This vision pointed Moses to God’s purpose for his life in that season of his life.

God has a plan for each of us, He had a reason in mind before He created us. As we begin this new day, this new year, this new decade, this new season, it would be wise to seek out God’s purpose for our life and be intentional about fulfilling it.

Moses ascended a physical mountain from where he had a peep into the heavenly pattern that would guide his work.

The mountain was the place where he met with God and received this priviledged vision. To get the pattern for our live’s assignment, we too need to get into the presence of God. There is nothing mystical about God’s presence. He meets with us and reveals things to us in different ways. It could be when we settle down to spend time alone with Him. Sometimes He may show up in a dream. We also access his presence when we thank and praise Him. Worship brings us before God. He can use people to show us the pattern for our lives or He can show it to us in His word. God usually reveals His secrets to those who are close to Him. Jesus, the son of God, is the bridge that connects us to our heavenly father.

Of the three levels of sight, the spiritual is the most important because, we understand from scripture, that what happens in the physical realm is controlled from the spiritual realm.

When God reveals the heavenly pattern for our lives, we have the responsibility to download what we have received, interprete it and birth it physically.

2020 is the year for visioning. In this season we cannot afford to let anyting fall on our blind spot. We need to sharpen our senses so we can pick the divine signals around us. It is time for a clear perspective. As we embark on the journey of this new day, new year, new decade, new season, our prayer should be derived from Revelations 3:18 ‘Lord, anoint my eyes with salve that I might see clearly’.

Of the three levels of sight, the spiritual is the most important because, we understand from scripture, that what happens in the physical realm is controlled from the spiritual realm.
