STYLE DIVOS

- BY USIADE ISIOMA

When we speak of Divos, we refer to men who look just as sharp on the street as they do on the red carpet. They are the male version of Divas. These are men who know that in this camera-phone age, every little walk to the corner can turn into a photo op. They rarely bother with suits but when they do, they make it count. Not only do these men tend to be better dressed than most, more and more of them actually are prone to dressing up to the nines in public. Men don’t hide themselves under bushels any more, and while it would be fair to say we now live in a world of peacocks, men these days also like to be noticed. They hog the limelight and are just as “light, camera, action” ready as their female counterparts! Here are a few of such Divos...

RICHARD MOFEDAMIJO.

We are fascinated with the energy of RMD. He seems to be reversing the aging process and if anything, has pushed the envelope even further in terms of his style and colour with a sartorial and contemporary twist. Apart from his physical attributes, he’s a natural clothes horse and his confidence makes for an effortlessly comfortable approach to whatever he wears.

JEREMIAH OGBODO.

Swanky Jerry, as he is popularly known, brings his own sense of effortless style to everything he styles and wears, from sophisticated tailoring to modern streetwear. He crosses the very thin line between outright bold masculinity mixed with a touch of feminine colours which makes him even more appealing to the eye. He is not afraid to throw in some bold jewelry for effect which certifies him as the darling of fashion and style!

BANKY WELLINGTON.

Style and character are always elements you should emulate. Banky epitomises modern style as he plays with bold tailoring and statement pieces. Though not one to go overboard, he still stands out with his subtle pieces that those who know...know. He isn’t afraid to experiment with his unique approach to fashion een through his refined, tailored style. He expresses elegance and individuality with confidence.

DENOLA GREY.

In a world where most men like to expose their muscle toned bodies, one would have thought a small framed man like Denola would pale into the shadows. But not so. Far from it! Denola is a professional model with supreme confidence in everything he wears. He is able to blur the boundaries between formal and casualwear. His sense of style is a celebration of the new approach to style, which is relaxed but also edgy. His bold necklaces have also earned him many admirers and accolades and he is not afraid to cross the boundaries with these statement pieces.

EBUKA OBIUCHENDU

Enuma is the epitome of understated cool, always noticeable in a crowd; his signature is his essential hat not to mention his ‘cloak of many colours’ many men cannot pull off like he does. His relaxed style is a mixture of casual trousers and tailored jackets and he has mastered the art of selecting key pieces that work with his attitude. He has the body to pull it off seamlessly so he is always in control.

IGWE. NOBLE

Noble makes good styling look easy and effortless. His style, especially in traditional wear has long since pushed the boundaries. There’s a certain boldness with his sartorial choices that cannot go unnoticed. There’s always an ‘Aha’ moment with anything he adorns which inspires others to also explore their own creative juices and do something unique with their wardrobe like he does.
