THISDAY

Note From The Editor

-

An Executive Director at the Bank of Industry, Waheed Olagunju was contacted two days before this publication both on telephone and text message but he did not respond.

First, he was contact by THISDAY Agri-Business/Industry Editor, Mr. Crusoe Osagie but rather than provide the bank’s response, he asked him to help him stop the publication. Mr. Osagie made him to understand that it was not possible to stop the story and that the right thing was for the bank to provide its side of the story.

Osagie also sent the writer’s phone number to Olagunju, who promised to call the writer but he never did.

Also, on Saturday, Jan 23, two days before the publication, the writer put a call across to Olagunju, who said he was driving and promised to return the call.

When after several hours, Olagunju did not return the call, the reporter again put several calls across to him, but to no avail. Also, a short message service (SMS) was sent to him on Saturday evening, but he also did not reply. Below was the SMS sent to Olagunju in the evening of Saturday, Jan 23:

“Hello Mr. Waheed, I work with THISDAY NEWSPAPERS. I called to get the BOI’s response with respect to a contempt charge against the BOI and its MD for alleged disobedience of court ruling, which directed that parties to the suits filled by two staff members of the bank to challenge the MD’s plan to terminate their employment should maintain the status quo ante.

Specifically, I would like to get your bank’s responses to the matter. Thank you.”
