Tanzanians are Crazy About Nigerian Culture, Music, Says Envoy
The Tanzania High Commissioner to Nigeria, Daniel Ole Njoolay, has revealed that Tanzanians are crazy about Nigerian culture, artistes and music, adding that Nigeria's entertainment industry is at another level compared to Tanzania's.
Based on this premise, the Tanzanian government has entered into an agreement with a Nigerian company, La Campagne Beach Resort with the aim of transforming and polishing the country's entertainment industry.
He said the company has come up with the concept: "East and West Africa Amalgamation through Arts and Tourism", aimed at transferring artistry skills to Tanzanians in the entertainment industry from their Nigerian counterparts.
Njoolay stated: "One thing we lack so much in Tanzania is that our movie stars still lack the skills, they are not as good as Nigerians, so why don't we start from technology transfer as the beginning of the whole thing? Maybe by bringing some artistes from Tanzania to come and perform jointly with artistes in Nigeria, make a joint movie and then do the same in Tanzania. There are many other things that will follow after that including tourist visit”, he noted.
The High Commissioner revealed further that a representative from Tanzania, had discussions with La Campagne Beach Resort in Lagos on how to execute the project, added, “We are just about to sign the MoU, everything is about to start by 1st of August.”
Meanwhile, the Founder of La Campagne, Dr. Wanle Akinboboye, said they have come up with an action plan which had been confirmed and approved by the government of Tanzania, stressing that arrangement started two and half months ago. He said that the need to diversify the country’s economy has been long overdue, saying it should have happened 25 years ago, adding that Nigeria's strongest strength is creativity.
Akinboboye stressed that, "What we have agreed to do is to bring actors from Tanzania to make some mingle with actors in Nigeria at La Campagne Tropicana Beach Resort and two script writers, producers, Directors, mixing and working with our producers, Directors, actors, they will jointly create a script that will be shot and delivered in two weeks. The production will then be taken to Tanzania where we will premiere it. While in Tanzania we are going to produce another film, which has been identified by the ministry, the film is called 'The Pride'.
