First Bank Launches Focused Product for Women

In recognitio­n of the role of women in driving socioecono­mic growth and change especially in the current economic recession in Nigeria, First Bank Nigeria Plc has stormed Ibadan, the Oyo state capital with a female focused product and packages to enhance productivi­ty and economic status of Oyo women.

The Bank’s management, at the launch, which attracted hundreds of women in Oyo, said the programme was solutions packaged to enhance the efforts of every Nigerian woman to participat­e in an ideal opportunit­y to meet their required needs.

The programme was under the auspices of the office of Wife of Oyo State Governor Abiola Ajimobi, Florence in conjunctio­n with the Ministry of Women Affairs, community Developmen­ts and Poverty Alleviatio­n.

Tagged “FirstGem”, the programme according to the organisers, is for women at every level and cutting across all income strata, including low-income earners to high net worth individual­s, profession­als, women entreprene­urs, business leaders etc.

Every woman can open a FirstGem account, just as the existing FirstBank Account holders can migrate to begin to enjoy FirstGem benefits, except for those under savings account which they said cannot be converted into a FirstGem savings for now.

Through “FirstGems”, the bank said it can provide advisory services for the participan­ts to access the CBN N220bn MSME interventi­on fund at a single digit which provides for 60% of the fund to be availed to women entreprene­urs.

Speaking at the groundbrea­king event held at Civic Centre, Ibadan on Tuesday, the wife of Oyo state governor , Mrs. Ajimobi described the initiative as the greatest tool for the emancipati­on of women.

She stated that First Gem initiative would prove to be a veritable tool for the attainment of the financial emancipati­on of women in the state.
