The members of the Cosmopolitan Women’s Club, a social club of prominent Lagos residents and indigenes, on the 29th of March visited the Yaba Home of the Elderly to present their donations of air conditioners and bags of rice and other essentials to the workers as well as visit with some of the residents of the facility.

The President of the Cosmopolitan Women’s Club, Mrs. Bintu Fatima Tinubu, said after the presentation that the gesture was part of the Club’s celebration of International Women’s Day, precipitating a social outreach to the elderly as well as the youths of the community.

The President stated that the women were very impressed with the work that the government was doing in the facility, and called on the Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, to continue to protect the destitutes in the state and uphold the standards that have been shown during his tenure.

She added: ‘He is doing a wonderful job, not only with Old People’s Homes, but all the government agencies in the state. The message we are trying to pass across is that it is important for people to do good wherever they can in their communities, for their institutions, so that we can all be equal and I pray that it will inspire the general public to act as well.”

The former President and Founder of the Cosmopolitan Women’s Club, Mrs. Onikepo Oshodi, spoke also about the intentions of their gesture, saying that it was just one of their programs to look after the youth and old people. “The Cosmopolitan Women’s Club consists of highly disciplined and professional women of Lagos State and has been in existence for 12 years now. We have been clamouring for good governance for the generality of Lagosians, we have been to many places such as this, donating to the people because we are concerned with the welfare of people in the state.
