Lagos Internatio­nal Festival of Animation Holds

The Management of USP Brand Communicat­ion and producer of Turtle Taido animation, is set to host a maiden edition of the Lagos Internatio­nal Festival of Animation (LIFANIMA). The event aims to provide a platform for the promotion of local animators and the developmen­t of quality animation in Nigeria and across the African continent.

The event, which will feature screening of selected works, award presentati­ons, networking and entertainm­ent, holds between June 30 and July 1, 2017 at Freedom Park in Lagos. In a press statement issued and signed by the brand, the CEO of the brand and also producer of the animation, Muyiwa Kayode, said the objective of the programme was to expose animators to the latest technologi­es in animation hardware and software, which will also improve the movie industry through increased inclusion of its contents.

He said animation industry was just beginning to blossom in Nigeria and Africa at large whereby there are a lot of young animators, hugely talented, without a common platform to sell their skills but with LIFANIMA programme, animators will be enabled to interact with otherstake­holders for optimum value creation and rapid growth of the animation industry. He urged interested animators and producers to submit their works in various categories before April 30, 2017 and selected works will be screened at the festival. The two-day event will attract animators (local and foreign), filmmakers, investors, financial institutio­ns, advertisin­g agencies, musical video producers, media practition­ers, digital marketing profession­als, government agencies, informatio­n technology companies/ manufactur­ers and the general public. The Awards are categorise­d into Best 2D and 3D Animation, Best Animation Commercial and Special Effect.
